God is Faithful

Standing in awe of God is something I did quite a bit last week when money, strength and words showed up just when I needed them. There was the call from one of my daughters in Christ whose childrearing issue stumped me. Hoping she would just vent and be content with me praying, she stated what I feared: “I don’t know if you have anything to offer me . . .,” she said as I shook my head no, knowing I needed to say something. I opened my mouth to offer an empty platitude until something sensible came through. Instead what came out was what I hadn’t conceived and this happened about five times. Through fear and tears we both rejoiced at the hope that came through, words from God reminding and reassuring us that He indeed is faithful. And this is our key.

God [is] faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.—1 Corinthians 1:9

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].—1 Corinthians 10:13

God is faithful is the key to failing words, to knowing that he’s heard our words in distress, a financial mess, in whatever test we find ourselves. God is faithful. It’s futile to count on flesh to give wisdom to those in need, to provide our own comfort when we bleed and weep from our own wounds. God is faithful, and our faith in what He will do will keep us and keep us standing in awe of Him.
